little is made of the prophecies referred to above in the Book of Isaiah. Why is it that only a couple of verses in Jeremiah are explicitly indicated by the author of Ezra, when an array of other texts would have confirmed his case that the events he recorded were the fulfilment of prophecy, telling not only of the restoration from exile, but of the rebuilding of Jerusalem and of a glorious future for the people (cf. e.g. Isa. 2:2–4; 56; 60; 61:1–7; 62 etc.)?
